The three competitors you see most in Google

Where search stands now

68%of US Google searches ended without a click in early 2026SparkToro and Similarweb, 2026

63%of pages cited in Google’s AI Overviews also rank in Google’s top 100 for the same searchAhrefs, 863,000 searches, 2026

A 60-second test

Fewer searches end in a click than ever, so the few spots that still get clicked are worth more. Being fifth used to cost you some traffic. Now it can cost you the sale.

If you run out of fingers, this audit is for you.

Try it

  1. Open a private browser window.
  2. Search for the thing you sell, the way a buyer would.
  3. Count the competitors that show up before you do.

What the audit covers

Free SEO tools are good at finding missing alt text. They rarely find the reason you’re losing deals.

I look at your site the way Google does, and then the way a buyer does.

On my desk

  • Technical crawl: indexing, crawl errors, redirects, canonicals, sitemaps and robots.txt
  • Site speed and Core Web Vitals on the pages that sell
  • JavaScript rendering check
  • Search Console review: which pages and searches earn clicks, and which are slipping
  • Keyword and buyer-intent mapping for what you sell
  • Commercial page review: titles, headings, content, internal links and calls to action
  • Competitor gap for your top three competitors
  • Backlink and authority check against those competitors
  • Local SEO check, if you serve an area
  • Tracking check: are leads and sales recorded in GA4?
  • AI readiness basics: AI crawler access, and whether Google’s AI Overviews include you for your main searches

On your desk

  • The problems costing you the most, in plain English, ranked by impact
  • The searches closest to revenue that you can realistically win
  • Where your top three competitors beat you, and why
  • A 90-day plan ranked by what should make you money first
  • A fix list your developer can work from
  • The full SEO audit report to keep, whether we work together or not

Want the full AI picture?

This audit checks whether AI can read your site and whether Google’s AI answers include you. To see how often ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity name you, ask for the AI Visibility Audit instead, or say in the form that you want both.

How it works

  1. 1

    You apply

You fill in the form at the top of this page. It takes about two minutes. The competitor question matters most, so give it a moment.

  2. 2

    I read it

I read every request myself. If it’s a fit, you’ll get an email from me within two business days with a link to book the call. Read-only access to Search Console makes the audit sharper, but it’s optional.

  3. 3

    I run the audit

I do the audit before we talk. The call is for answers, not for watching me open tabs.

  4. 4

    We go through it

You get the report, the plan and a straight answer on what I’d fix first. If you want me to do the work, I’ll send a proposal with the scope and monthly fee. If your team would rather do it, the plan works without me.

About the “if it’s a fit” part

Each audit takes me real hours, so I only take a few each month. If you don’t hear back within two business days, the timing isn’t right for this audit. That says nothing about your business. Everyone who applies gets a short self-check by email, so you can start on the basics today.

Why not just use a free SEO audit tool?

Use one. They’re quick, they’re free, and they’re good at spotting broken links and missing tags.

What a tool can’t tell you is which of its 214 warnings matter. Most of them don’t. It can’t see which searches bring your buyers, which pages close deals, or why a competitor with a worse site keeps outranking you. That takes someone who reads your data and knows your market, and who’s happy to tell you that 180 of those warnings can wait.

This audit is a good fit when

  • You sell something people search for before they buy.
  • Your site has been live for a while and gets some search traffic.
  • You, or someone on the call, can approve a budget.
  • You want to act on what we find in the next three months.

It’s a poor fit if

  • You haven’t launched yet.
  • You want a guaranteed #1 spot.
  • You need a score for a slide and nothing more.

Questions about SEO audits

What is an SEO audit?

An SEO audit is a review of how well search engines can find, read and trust your website, and how well your pages turn searches into customers. A good one ends with a short, ranked list of fixes, not a pile of warnings.

How much does an SEO audit cost?

Mine is free for businesses that fit. Paid audits from agencies range from under $1,000 to well into five figures, depending on the size of the site and how deep the audit goes.

Why is it free? What’s the catch?

The catch is small: it’s how I start conversations with companies I may work with. You keep the report either way, and there’s no obligation.

How long does an SEO audit take?

Between 48 hours and a week from the day you book, depending on the size of the site. The walkthrough call takes 30 minutes.

Can ChatGPT do an SEO audit?

It can explain what an audit checks and point out obvious issues on a page you paste in. It can’t crawl your whole site, read your Search Console data, or know which fixes will bring buyers. Use it for a checklist, and get a person for the plan.

How do I do an SEO audit myself?

Start in Google Search Console. Check the Pages report for indexing errors, then the Performance report for your top pages and searches. Run a free crawler to find broken links and redirects, test your key pages in PageSpeed Insights, and search your main services in a private window to see who beats you. The hard part is deciding what matters first. That’s the part I do.

What’s included in a technical SEO audit?

A technical SEO audit checks crawling and indexing, redirects and canonicals, sitemaps and robots.txt, site speed and Core Web Vitals, mobile rendering, JavaScript, structured data and HTTPS. My audit covers all of that, plus content, competitors and tracking.

How is this different from the AI Visibility Audit?

This audit focuses on how you rank in Google, with a light check on AI. The AI Visibility Audit measures what ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Google’s AI say about you. If you want both, say so in the form.

Do I need to give you access to anything?

No. Read-only access to Search Console and GA4 makes the audit sharper, but it’s optional. Everything else runs from the outside, the way Google and your buyers see you.

Are you an SEO audit agency?

No, I’m an SEO audit consultant. I run every audit myself, and the person who finds the problems is the person who would fix them.

What happens after the audit?

You get the report and the plan. If you want me to do the work, I send a proposal. If not, the plan works without me.

How often should you get an SEO audit?

Once a year, and after any big change: a redesign, a platform move or a sudden drop in traffic. Between audits, monthly monitoring catches most problems early.

What happens if I don’t hear back?

It means the timing isn’t right for this audit. If your situation changes, you’re welcome to apply again.
